Youtube channel, Marching Sports, posts a 2019 video of the Southern University and A&M College’s marching band known as the Human Jukebox, performing Baller Blockin’ by Cash Money Millionaires. Southern University’s Fabulous Dancing Dolls joins the band with a performance of their own. These two groups began performing together in 1969 and have made history in their own ways ever sense.
The Human Jukebox is one of the most popular marching bands in the United States with over 140,000 followers on Facebook and over 60,000 followers on Instagram. The band has performed at the Super Bowl numerous times and reached over one million views on Youtube as a result of the viral marching band videos. In addition to its success, the Human Jukebox is also known for being the only HBCU marching band to have only one drum major while performing.
Meanwhile, the Fabulous Dancing Dolls have been invited to perform with Madonna for the Super Bowl Halftime performance in 2012 and performed along Beyoncé in her 2019 Netflix Documentary, ‘Homecoming’. Southern University and A&M College is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They are also known as the blue and gold Jaguars and have 13 intercollegiate sports team participating in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), a part of NCAA Division I.
Every year the SU football team faces their biggest SWAC rivalry, Grambling State, in the Bayou Classic played in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Human Jukebox and Grambling State’s Tiger Marching Band also face off in what is called the “Battle of the Bands,” in this classic.
