Maiya from Youtube channel, Maiya Imani, takes us through her first week of spring semester at Spelman College. In this video, she vlogs her new makeup routine using drug store makeup, her new college schedule, and an exclusive look into some buildings on campus. While disclosing her new classes, she goes in depth about why she is interested in the class and even how a class may potentially get dropped in the near future. Maiya also gets very personal in her vlog and shows her devotional book that helps bring her closer to God.

Since it is only the first week, she reveals how there is not much activity taking place on campus. Yet, she wanted to give her viewers insight to her relaxing first week of the semester and even provide helpful tips for fellow students. Spelman College was founded in 1881 as the Atlanta Baptist Female Seminary and is now America’s oldest private black liberal art college for women. Located in downtown Atlanta, the college offers over 80 student organizations including dance teams, marching band, intramural sports, and more.

From 2003-2013, their athletic teams also known as the Spelman Jaguars, participated in the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) of NCAA Division III. The college decided to withdraw from college sports in 2013 and instead established wellness programs accessible to all students.

Spelman is also known for their notable alumnae including Martin Luther King Jr.’s youngest daughter, Bernice King and the first African American COO of Starbucks, Rosalind Brewer. Other famous alumnae are Keshia Knight Pulliam and Cassandra Davis who are both featured in Tyler Perry productions.
